The Commission
Your garden, heard and honored.
Wherever your garden is, Glenda comes to it, and writes music that belongs to it alone.

Glenda comes to you
Time in your garden, unhurried.
Glenda travels to your garden, anywhere in the world, and spends unhurried time there in its season.
She walks it in the morning and again at dusk. She listens to its birdsong, its water and the wind in its trees, notes where the light falls and how the paths are walked, and gathers flowers to press for your Illuminated Score and your invitations.
Her travel is part of your commission. You simply welcome her into the garden.
Where the music begins
With your story, or with the garden alone.
If you have a story to share
Many families do: the tree planted the year a child was born, the roses grown from a grandmother's cutting, the bench where two people first sat together. Glenda listens, and that story becomes the heart of the music.
If you would rather the garden speak
Some patrons prefer to let the garden speak for itself, or are commissioning the work as a legacy or a gift. That is just as welcome. Glenda draws on the garden alone, its light, its seasons and its character, and the music is no less yours.
How your commission comes to life
From first conversation to finished score.
- I
A private conversation
We talk about your garden, the occasion, the people you have in mind and the sound you imagine. From that conversation comes your personal proposal, with everything included.
- II
Glenda in your garden
Glenda comes to you in season. She walks the garden, listens to it, hears its story if you wish to tell it, and gathers the flowers she will press.
- III
The composing
Over three to four months, Glenda writes your work by hand. Midway, she shares a first sketch with you, so you hear your garden taking shape.
- IV
The name and the dedication
Your work is named for your family or your garden, and its dedication is written into the score, to be read by everyone who ever plays it.
- V
Into the hands of the musicians
Glenda prepares the work with the musicians who will play it at your premiere, so that on the evening, every note is ready for your guests.
Given as a gift
A gift that is heard before it is seen.
A commission can be the most memorable gift of a lifetime: for an anniversary, a parent's milestone birthday, or in memory of someone loved. Glenda works quietly with you, and the person you are honoring first hears their music at the premiere, among their own flowers.
